Following the information from the Youth Voices Count Core Working Group, APCOM would like to congratulate the network with the successful conclusion of their strategic process and the decisions taken in their recent meeting, including the confirmation of Niluka Perera as the Regional Coordinator of the network.
APCOM has supported Youth Voices Count over the last 6 years in many ways, including the hosting of the YVC coordinators in the APCOM secretariat, management support and providing fiscal sponsorship. Now, APCOM is proud to see the network developing into an independent entity, taking forward the issues of young MSM and transgender people in the region. We believe that Youth Voices Count could play an important role in mobilising and reaching young people in the region. The work and activities of the network, alongside the work of many other organisations working with and for young MSM and transgender people, including APCOM, will be of significant importance for reaching the UNAIDS Fast Track Goals in the region and change the current nature of the HIV epidemic in Asia and the Pacific.
We are looking forward to our further cooperation and engagement and wish Youth Voices Count the very best for their future endeavours.
